The Skatepark
Lessons Learned While Reaching The Unreached
I never dreamed of owning a skatepark, it just happened! I’m so thankful that it did because it was in this place I learned so many things about following Jesus. I mostly learned through my mistakes, but I learned so much.
"The Skatepark: Lessons Learned While Reaching The Unreached" begins with my journey to Jesus and the background of how I became a skatepark owner. From there, I share many stories from the two years I operated the skatepark. Stories about miracles, trials, accidents, addictions, skating, programs, disabilities, death, and my biggest mistakes. Along the way we hear stories from the teens I came to know at this place. Their stories challenged me to question my definitions of ministry and church. They forced me to face my failures and weaknesses. Loving the unloved is not always easy, but it is what is needed in our communities today.
The Skatepark is more than just a collection of stories, it’s a book that looks at what it’s going to take for the Church in America to better reach the unreached in our communities. Written from the perspective of someone who’s been in the trenches of life, this book brings the reader to a place where they will have to ask themselves some hard questions about their mission in life, their perspective of church, and their relationship with Jesus and reliance on His power.
Major change is coming to the Church in America, and I hope this book encourages you to be a part of that change.
