What's The Big Deal About Jesus

The Bible is a collection of 66 books written by different authors, over an expanded period of time, that tell collectively one story.  That human kind is sinful, and in need of a savior.

The story starts out with God creating everything, then putting man and woman in charge of his creation.  Life at this point is eternal, and humans have direct access to God all the time.

Then man and woman decide to go against God and do something he told them not to do.  This is the entrance of sin in the world.  Since God is holy, he cannot have anything to do with sin, so man and woman are taken out of the Garden.  This means no more eternal life, and no more direct access to God.

And ever since this moment, we humans have been trying to get back to eternal life and a direct relationship with God.  But God can’t have anything to do with sin, and we all have plenty of it in our lives.  So we remained separated.

But even before God created man, he had a plan for bringing his creation back into a relationship with him... the Messiah, the Christ, Jesus.

In the Bible, it teaches that a sacrifice is required to remove sin.  Jews still practice this today with blood sacrifices of cows, goats, birds.  A priest takes the sacrifice before God asking him to remove the sins of his people.

Jesus was that blood sacrifice for you and me, and all of mankind.  God sent his own son to earth to live a sinless life, so he could be sacrificed to cover the sins of all.

God is so in love with you and me, that he gave his only son over to be killed. And by doing this, Jesus paid the penalty for our sins.

Jesus’ story doesn’t end there.  3 days after death, he came back to life.  The tomb they placed him in, with Roman guards standing watch over, was empty.  And Jesus was alive, appearing to his followers for 40 days.  All this proved that he is the son of God, giving life to all that believe in Him, and giving man direct access to their creator, God, for the first time in thousands of years.

Jesus is a big deal.  Without him, we are lost and eternally separated from God.

SO WHAT

I’m writing all of this here, not to condemn anyone, but to simply explain what it is I believe and why I do what I do.

I’m no scholar, and I don’t claim to have all the answers.  I just know that Jesus transformed my life and he will do the same for anyone who repents of their sin, and truly believes.

When I first believed, my view of life completely changed.  I no longer saw people for what I could get from them.  I started to see people and ask how I could love them better.  God transforms us by taking your selfish perspective in life, and he allows you to see the world from his perspective.

It is my hope that through my art, and my life, you might see something different... something true... you might see Jesus living through me.  And I hope that Jesus might be something you would desire, or at least investigate for yourself.
